Ascot Stabber – Futility 7″
Pissfart Records, 2019
“Brisbane, Australia. White picket fences. Row after lifeless row of freshly mowed lawns. Manicured lives living the dream. The sun sinks and the shadows grow. A pair of eyes glow red. A blade grows thirsty. In 2017 Ascot Stabber made their first kill. Roaming from street to street, whether their victims lay in waiting on festival stage, bar back room or car workshop they continued, the thirst growing. They documented each kill, relishing in the ferocity and brutality of each act of perversion, witnesses left stunned by what they think they’ve seen.
Two years later, Ascot Stabber still roam the alleys and the gutters, hungrier than ever. “Futility”, their latest offering, is 4 tracks of 80’s-inspired hardcore punk to see red to. Critics have found traces of bands from old legends Hot Snakes and Wipers to new bloods Flowers of Evil and Bad Breeding in their DNA. One time they got called extraterrestrial Oi. These comparisons mean nothing. All end up with a blade to the throat. Make up your own mind. Be the next victim. Ugliness is strength.”
