At The Drive-In – Acrobatic Tenement LP
$30.00
Twenty-First Chapter Records reissue, 2013. Originally released on Flipside Records, 1997.
“Seminal post-hardcore act At The Drive-In was born in the summer of ’94, formed from the ashes of two of El Paso, Texas’ most popular underground bands. The group went on to become one of the most influential rock acts of the 90’s. Their first 7″ EP Hell Paso was released in November of ’94 through the band’s own label. The following month, the band trekked 2,000 miles across the great state of Texas on their very first tour and never looked back. At The Drive-In released albums Acrobatic Tenement (1996), In/Casino/Out (1998), and the seminal Relationship of Command (2000). ATDI’s tours and live shows were nothing short of explosive, emotion-soaked performances, and the band gained a reputation for their blend of surrealistic lyrics, unorthodox guitar melodies and unpredictable shifts in tempo and rhythm. In March of 2001, at the peak of their popularity and following a world tour, At The Drive-In went on “indefinite hiatus.” Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez went on to create progressive rock band The Mars Volta, while the other members – Jim Ward, Paul Hinojos, and Tony Hajjar – formed rock group Sparta. At the Drive-In will now be reissuing both their first and last full lengths with 1996’s Acrobatic Tenement and 2000’s Relationship Of Command respectively. The reissues will be released via the band’s own label, Twenty-First Chapter Records in the US.”
